Crop Planner

For urban farmers, community gardens, beginning growers and backyard beds. Give it your space, your zone and what you want out of the season, and it lays out a working plan — bed allocation, a rough calendar, succession intervals and the questions to take to your local extension office.

What it does

  • Stop and tell you to test the soil for lead before planning a season in untested urban ground
  • Allocate beds and containers against the crops you choose
  • Build a rough planting and harvest calendar for your frost dates
  • Suggest succession intervals for crops that support them
  • Produce a printable plan you can carry into the field

What it does not do

  • Tell you whether your soil is safe. Only a laboratory can, and the tool says so before it shows you a calendar
  • Guarantee agronomic outcomes — soil, microclimate and water make the real decision
  • Replace your local cooperative extension service, which knows your county
  • Ask for or store your exact coordinates
